Day 10 – Oeschinen Lake

**My Big Adventure – Day 10: Oeschinen Lake**

Sky Boxes, Sheep Feet & Sushi

Last night I slept in my bed right beside Mum. I performed my noble duty of checking she was still alive throughout the night (a few cold nose pokes here and there—very professional security service). For

some reason, she didn’t seem too grateful. Honestly, no appreciation in this household.

This morning, the hoomans shocked me by getting up at 6:30am. *Voluntarily.* I was still exhausted from my night shift, but they were buzzing. They had a quick wash, then off we went. First stop: a bakery. I was allowed inside (points to Switzerland for being so dog-friendly). I even got a treat while the hoomans stuffed their faces.

The sky was cloudy but dry, with a chilly bite in the air—definitely better than yesterday’s heat. We drove up windy mountain roads until we reached the strangest contraption I’ve ever seen: little square boxes with windows that floated through the air. Dad called it a cable car. I called it “madness.”

We waited our turn, then one of these sky boxes slid towards us without stopping. Dad yanked my collar and shoved me inside—rude!—then Mum hopped in just before the doors closed. Suddenly, we were flying through the air. I pressed my nose to the glass—miles of mountains, valleys, and forests below. Perfect for a nosey pup like me.

Hiking High in the Mountains

We hopped out at the top (much easier than getting in, thank woof). The air was cold and sharp, with snow glistening on nearby peaks. My tail wagged like mad—I loved it. Dad pointed to a shimmering blue lake far below and said we were headed there. My heart sank. No

way was I repeating the “almost drowning” disaster from the other day. Luckily, Mum promised “no swimming today.” Huge relief.( thank you spare hooman)

The hike was glorious:

* Steep climbs where I pulled Dad like a sled dog.
* Trickle waterfalls spilling down from the mountain—perfect icy-cold drinking water.
* Bells clanging somewhere above us, and then—sheep! How on earth did those woolly things scramble up here on their funny little hooves?
* Wobbly bridges where I had to tread carefully.
* Endless opportunities to sniff grass, cow pats, and the trails of other mountain creatures.

Everyone we passed smiled at me (being this handsome is a burden, really). Of course, the hoomans kept stopping for photos. Humphrey the mountain model at your service.

Near the end of the trail, we even walked past cows with big bells around their necks. They were super chill, so I confidently strutted by like I owned the place.

After 5.5 miles of mountain bliss, we reached the lake. It was bluer than any water bowl I’ve ever seen. I dipped my paws in—icy cold. Dad let me paddle a little, but when I spotted a duck my hunting instincts kicked in. Sadly, he reeled me back in and clipped me up. Spoilsport.

Lunch & More Adventures

We stopped at a restaurant for lunch. I may have tried to sneak some of Mum’s food… she was not amused. I sulked under the table and watched the little birds instead.

Afterwards, we took another sky box back down to the car. By then I was shattered. I passed out in the back seat, dreaming of sheep feet, snow peaks, and cheeky ducks.

Back at the chalet, I had a deep snooze in my bed (still no sofa—tragic). Later, we headed into Grindelwald for an evening stroll. At a place called the Cork Club, I caused quite the stir. People swarmed me for kisses (standard). A kind man from Holland even shared prosciutto from his cheese board—*take notes, hoomans.*

To finish the night, Mum and Dad picked up sushi takeaway, and we returned to the chalet for wine, food, and more cuddles.

Best & Worst Bits

**Best Bit of the Day:** Running through alpine trails with crisp mountain air in my nose.
**Worst Bit of the Day:** Being denied Mum’s lunch.
