Day 9 – Black Forest to Switzerland

**My Big Adventure – Day 9: Black Forest to Switzerland**

Nighttime Mischief

Revenge was mine. At exactly 2:18am, I woke up *desperate* to do my business. Totally not my fault—my hoomans gave me dinner late. Dad dragged himself out of bed to take me outside, but when we got back in, I was ready to party. Mum insisted it was “the middle of the night” (this time she was correct), so I begrudgingly went back to bed.

At 5:30am I stirred again and woke Mum with my best cold-nose-to-the-face routine. She was *thrilled.* She told me to go back to bed—spoil sport. Then, convinced I’d heard intruders, I let out a few low growls and gruffs to protect the family. Dad shouted at me. Ungrateful! Doesn’t he know I’m their only security system?

Finally at 7:00am, Dad moved. I bolted to the sofa for a proper snooze while Mum caved and got up. The hoomans had breakfast and began packing. I supervised carefully—can’t risk Mum leaving one of my precious teddies behind.

Crossing Borders

Once the car was loaded, we set off for Switzerland. I was tired (thanks to Mum keeping me up all night), so I dozed between charging stops.

We paused in Lucerne, which was busy but very pretty—mountains, a sparkling lake, and an old town straight out of a postcard. The hoomans had lunch while I kept myself entertained bird-watching. Then, back to the car for another long drive.

Into the Mountains

The road twisted and climbed higher and higher until—bam!—snow-capped peaks, green meadows, and giant Swiss

chalets filled the valley. Finally, somewhere worthy of my royal paws.

Our cabin was perched above Grindelwald, with crisp mountain air that smelled *so* much better than hot city streets. We checked in, then headed straight out for dinner at a very fancy hotel. I was allowed inside (as I should be). Dad forgot my treats, so I busied myself trying to catch flies. Very dignified.

Freedom in the Meadow

After dinner, we walked up the steep valley. Dad found a grassy meadow and finally let me off-lead. Heaven! I charged up and down through the long grass at full speed, zooming like the mountain goat I was clearly born to be. The perfect reward after a whole day stuck in

the car.

Back at the cabin, I curled up on my dog bed ( no sofa this time, bummer), tired but content. Switzerland already smells like adventure. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Best & Worst Bits

**Best Bit of the Day:** Charging like a lunatic through the Swiss meadow.
**Worst Bit of the Day:** Dad forgetting my treats at the swish hotel—how very dare he.

**Ongoing Grievances:**

* Still no bed privileges.
* My heroic night watch goes unappreciated.
* Hoomans still feed me dinner at ridiculous times.
