New Year’s Eve

**31st December – A Very Dog-Tired New Year’s Eve**

Today was another fairly quiet day, mostly because the spare hooman woke up with a cold and wasn’t feeling great. Tragic for her, but unfortunately that didn’t excuse the **usual boring coffee stop**. Honestly, how many coffees does one trip require?

Thankfully, the hoomans redeemed themselves and took me out for a **five-mile walk along the canals**. Now *this* was more like it. Fresh air, endless smells, proper grass — absolute heaven. I even met the

**biggest, bounciest, long-haired doggo** and we had a quick but excellent play-wrestle before going our separate ways like mature, well-socialised pups. It was glorious to get out of the city centre and really stretch my legs. My tail didn’t stop wagging the whole way.

Once we wandered back into town, the hoomans stopped at a place called **Beer Square**. They had beer and nachos (obviously), while I was given the **smallest piece of ham known to dogkind**. Still, I remained patient. I knew I’d wear them down eventually. Persistence is key.

Back at the apartment, Mum went straight to bed because she was feeling rotten. I, however, had **other plans**. I burst into the bedroom, grabbed my favourite teddy, and squealed him at maximum volume right beside her head. She was *not* impressed. Dad arrived shortly after and made me leave the room — absolute killjoy.

Once Mum eventually got up, I was still feeling frisky, so we headed out for our usual evening walk. Naturally, we stopped for mulled wine. Apparently, it’s *medicinal* for sore throats. Sure it is. We had a wander around town before heading back to collect a takeaway for the hoomans.

They keep saying it’s **New Year’s Eve** and that I should stay awake until midnight. I think not. I am curling up on the sofa and sleeping straight through to tomorrow.

Goodnight, fellow readers, and **Happy New Year** from a very well-travelled, very tired dog!
