Day 8 – Faaborg to Copenhagen 🇩🇰🐾

12 September 2026

Hello again, fellow readers!

Well, this morning I was expecting another boring travel day.

I woke up early and Dad took me outside for my morning constitutional.

And guess who was still there?

THE FREAKY THING.

The strange object that moves around the garden without a lead, collar or owner.

The robot lawnmower.

Thankfully, this morning it was docked.

I still kept a suspicious eye on it.

You can never be too careful.

After my morning business, we went back to bed for a bit.

Then, just as I was settling into my second sleep

The hoomans decided to get up.

Honestly, do they have no respect for a sleeping dog?

I supervised the packing operation and then supervised the clean-up operation.

I have to say, the spare hooman did an excellent job.

I’m pretty sure she left the place cleaner than when we arrived.

Very impressive.

I stood by the door to make absolutely certain that nobody accidentally forgot the most important piece of luggage.

Me.

Eventually we went and had a final game of fetch in the field then once we were all packed we headed into town for breakfast.

We sat at a lovely restaurant outdoors, of course.

One thing I’ve discovered about Denmark is that dogs aren’t allowed inside restaurants, shops or attractions.

Very strange rules.

Luckily, the sun was shining, so the hoomans were happy sitting outside.

After breakfast, we headed off to another Hundeskov — that’s Danish for dog forest.

And readers…

I LOVE THESE PLACES.

There were two lovely dogs playing in the meadow and they were incredibly friendly.

Even their hoomans were lovely.

In fact, they offered my hoomans a beer.

Now THAT is good service.

I charged around the meadow like a furry missile, having the time of my life.

Then I discovered…

THE LAKE.

Dad immediately shouted because it was absolutely covered in green sludge.

Apparently I was not to drink it.

So, naturally, before he could reach me, I made sure to have a big drink.

You know…

Just to annoy him.

We then walked the full length of the Hundeskov and had a brilliant time.

I have decided that before we leave Denmark, I will be conducting a full Humphrey Review of the Hundeskovs.

There will be ratings.

There will be categories.

There will probably be sticks involved.

Watch this space.

On our way out, we met another enormous dog.

This one was a Great Dane.

Readers, these Danish people clearly make their dogs like they make their hoomans…

TALL AND BEAUTIFUL.

He was a lovely five-year-old and very friendly.

Unfortunately, he was on a lead.

So there was no opportunity for a proper game.

Very disappointing.

We returned to the car and finally headed towards the big city…

COPENHAGEN.

Now, I wasn’t particularly excited.

I’m not usually a huge fan of cities.

Too many hoomans.

Too many cars.

Not enough forests.

We stopped to charge the car and the spare hooman suddenly became extremely excited because there was something called Joe & The Juice.

I got excited too.

Then I discovered…

There was NO JUICE FOR HUMPHREY.

Honestly.

The name is misleading.

After the car had finished charging, we continued into Copenhagen.

And when we arrived, I was very sceptical.

It looked like a big city.

And there was a rather boring-looking hotel.

I was preparing myself for disappointment.

But then…

We checked in.

And I discovered something wonderful.

There was a MASSIVE PARK RIGHT NEXT DOOR.

Readers…

I TAKE IT ALL BACK.

This park was incredible.

Trees.

Smells.

Ducks.

Geese.

And even a zoo next door!

I was in absolute scent heaven.

The hoomans were happy too because they could get themselves a takeaway beer and sit in the park.

We sat on a bench for a while.

I tolerated this.

For approximately five minutes.

Then I got impatient.

There was sniffing to be done!

So we headed off through the enormous park.

Apparently the zoo has elephants and you can see them from outside.

So naturally we went looking.

We waited.

And waited.

And waited.

NO ELEPHANTS.

What a disappointment.

I didn’t travel all the way to Copenhagen for false elephant advertising.

So we carried on to the dog park.

And this was another good one.

A huge open area where I could run around and play fetch.

So that’s exactly what I did.

For ages.

Then a little Frenchie arrived.

I invited him to play.

He declined.

Fair enough.

So, because I’m a generous and kind-hearted dog, I gave him my stick.

He was DELIGHTED.

I decided I’d had enough fetch for one day anyway.

After all, I had already reviewed another dog forest and run around a huge park.

We headed back to the hotel, collected our luggage and then set off for an Asian restaurant.

We sat outside, naturally, and I said hello to another new friend.

I’m becoming rather well known around Copenhagen.

After dinner, we headed to an outdoor bar where I enjoyed one of my favourite activities…

PEOPLE WATCHING.

There are some very interesting characters in this city.

Eventually we went back to the hotel lobby, where the hoomans had some drinks.

And, naturally, I made some more friends.

This time I met an Austrian and a Croatian who were missing their dog.

Well, they certainly weren’t missing a dog while I was around.

I gave them some Humphrey attention and reminded them what they were missing.

Eventually it was time to head upstairs to our room and relax.

And do you know what?

This city has actually been a very pleasant surprise.

I thought I was going to hate Copenhagen.

But with its enormous open parks, dog areas, trees, wildlife and plenty of places for me to sniff…

I’m starting to think it might be alright.

Still, I reserve the right to complain tomorrow.

That’s my job.

Now I’m off for some well-earned sleep.

I can’t wait to see what tomorrow’s adventure brings.

Goodnight, readers.
