Day 10 – Copenhagen β†’ Maribo β†’ LΓΌbeck πŸ‡©πŸ‡°πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ🐾

14 September 2026

Well, readers, **last night was a bit of a disaster**.

My bed was beside the spare hooman, and I simply could not get comfortable. I spent most of the night tossing and turning, which apparently kept the spare hooman awake and made her **very grumpy** in the morning.

She claims I kept her awake all night.

In my defence, the hotel room was **tiny** and I didn’t have enough room! Every time I tried to turn around, I bumped into the bedside table. What was I supposed to do? Sleep vertically?! 😳

I was also frustrated, so obviously there was going to be some tossing and turning. This was not my fault. The room was simply not designed with a handsome, full-sized GSP in mind.

In the morning, we went outside and sat beside a bakery for breakfast. It was a **very cold morning** and I was shivering, but I did enjoy sitting watching all the hoomans whizzing past on their bikes on their way to work.

Whatever *work* is.

Personally, I think they’re missing out on a much better lifestyle involving walkies, snacks and regular naps.

After breakfast, we packed up the car, checked out of the hotel and set off on another long drive. Today we were heading back into **Germany**, but the hoomans had promised me one last **Hundeskov** before we left Denmark.

So we headed to a place called **Maribo**, where we found the Hundeskov.

It was smaller than the one in Silkeborg, but I didn’t care. This was my **last chance to have one final Danish off-lead romp**, and I intended to make the most of it!

I charged around, sniffed everything, chased after sticks and played fetch. One last furry missile session in Denmark. πŸ‡©πŸ‡°πŸ•πŸ’¨

Then it was time for lunch, so we went to a nice cafe where the hoomans had **smΓΈrrebrΓΈd**. The spare hooman, however, was not particularly impressed with the wasps buzzing around.

I don’t blame her. Wasps are annoying.

We finished lunch and headed on to the boat.

Now **THIS** was a boat trip!

I was actually allowed to stay on deck with the hoomans, where I could watch the seagulls, observe all the other hoomans and, best of all, enjoy the wind blowing through my ears.

Absolute bliss. 🌊🐾

Why can’t **all boat trips be like this?!**

No silly exercise area. No being shut away. Just me, the hoomans, fresh air and seagulls to supervise.

Eventually the boat docked and we departed, meaning we were officially **back in Germany**.

We drove on to our next stop, LΓΌbeck, where we were staying in a second-floor apartment.

And readers, I have **good news**.

It had a **SOFA**.

And plenty of room to move around!

Much, much better than the pokey little hotel room from last night. I could actually turn around without launching myself into a bedside table. Luxury!

The hoomans carted all my belongings upstairs, we dumped everything in the apartment and then headed out to explore.

LΓΌbeck is a really nice city. We walked around and came across a **very ancient but very pretty city gate**, and naturally I had to pose for a photo.

I am, after all, the official holiday model. πŸ“Έ

Then we went to a lovely traditional German restaurant called **Kartoffell**, and β€” wait for it β€” **I was allowed inside!**

Thank goodness!

We are officially back to sensible dining arrangements. No more sitting outside freezing my paws off. No more wasp surveillance. We can now eat like civilised beings again.

And I wasn’t even the only dog in the restaurant!

There was a little fluffy dog wandering around, and I kept a very close eye on it. Although, I must say, it did seem rather unfair that **I had to remain on my lead while this little creature was allowed to roam freely**.

The injustice!

Eventually, however, the waitress tripped over the little dog, and its owners decided perhaps it was best to put it back on a lead.

**Justice served.** πŸ˜‚

I spent the rest of dinner watching all the hoomans and, naturally, being admired from afar. I could tell they were impressed by my handsome face and impeccable restaurant manners.

Eventually dinner was over, so we headed back to the apartment to watch some TV and chill out.

It’s been another busy day of travelling β€” Denmark is behind us now, we’re back in Germany, and we’ve arrived in LΓΌbeck.

I’m absolutely exhausted after all the driving, the walkies, the boat adventure and, most importantly, **not getting enough sleep last night**.

No doubt tomorrow will be action-packed too, because apparently these hoomans have no concept of letting a dog have a proper rest day.

Oh, I almost forgot, readers! Now that I have left Denmark, I feel it is only right that I give you my **official review of the Hundeskovs** we visited. After all, I have personally inspected them, tested the running conditions, investigated the sticks and sampled the local water. I take my responsibilities very seriously.

### πŸ₯‡ 1. Silkeborg – Hvinningdal Skov ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

**Humphrey rating: 10/10**

This was the **big one** and my absolute favourite.

🌲 Huge forest to run through
πŸ• Lots of lovely doggos to play with
πŸͺ΅ **SO MANY STICKS**
πŸ’¨ Excellent opportunities for furry-missile zoomies

There was loads of space to charge around and plenty of doggos to keep me entertained. Basically, **dog heaven**.

**Verdict:** Would happily move in permanently.

### πŸ₯ˆ 2. Faaborg – Sollerup ⭐⭐⭐⭐

**Humphrey rating: 9/10**

A smaller, more **meadow-style** Hundeskov, with long grass and a nice route around the edges.

But the real star attraction was the **lake**.

And readers, this lake contained some of the most delicious **green sludge** I have ever tasted. Absolutely magnificent.

The hoomans, for some strange reason, were less enthusiastic about my culinary discovery.

**Verdict:** Lovely running space and an excellent sludge bar.

### πŸ₯‰ 3. Ebeltoft ⭐⭐⭐⭐

**Humphrey rating: 8.5/10**

Smaller than Silkeborg, but still a very good forest with plenty of room to run around and, importantly, **lots of sticks**.

It actually felt like it *should* have been bigger because it sits within another large wooded area. There was so much forest around it that I couldn’t help thinking the hoomans had missed an opportunity here.

Still, plenty of sniffing, running and stick-related activities.

**Verdict:** Good forest. Could definitely be bigger.

### 4. Maribo ⭐⭐⭐½

**Humphrey rating: 8/10**

The **smallest of all the Hundeskovs** we visited, but don’t let that put you off. There was still plenty of space for a good run, and I managed one final Danish off-lead romp before we headed back to Germany.

The main disappointment?

**Not enough sticks.** πŸͺ΅πŸ˜”

A serious oversight by the Danish forestry department.

**Verdict:** Small but perfectly usable. Needs more sticks.

## πŸ† Humphrey’s Final Hundeskov Ranking

πŸ₯‡ **Silkeborg – Hvinningdal Skov** β€” the clear winner
πŸ₯ˆ **Faaborg – Sollerup** β€” excellent lake sludge
πŸ₯‰ **Ebeltoft** β€” good forest, lots of sticks
4️⃣ **Maribo** β€” smallest, but still plenty of running room

### πŸ‡©πŸ‡° Overall Denmark Hundeskov Rating: **10/10**

Honestly, readers, Denmark has absolutely **nailed the dog-forest situation**.

Lots of forests, lots of space, lots of doggos, lots of sticks and even the occasional delicious pond of green sludge.

The hoomans may have their castles, windmills and fancy cities, but **I came for the Hundeskovs**.

And they did not disappoint. πŸΎπŸ‡©πŸ‡°

So I’m off to bed.

And this time, **I have plenty of room to turn around.** 😴

Goodnight, readers. Humphrey x 🐾
