19 September 2026
Readers, I forgot to tell you something very important from last night.
I finally met the resident cat in the hotel lobby.
And can I just say…
HE WAS NOT VERY WELCOMING.
Not welcoming at all.
This cat took one look at me, hissed and showed me his fangs.
His actual fangs!
I did what any sensible dog would do and charged up the stairs to get away from him.
Crazy, scary cats. π³
Honestly, the hotel was lovely, but their judgement when it comes to resident animals needs some serious work.
I would recommend they replace the deranged cat with a GSP.
Much more civilised.
Much more welcoming.
And considerably more handsome.
This morning we packed up our belongings, with me once again supervising the entire operation. Someone has to make sure the hoomans don’t forget anything important, like my treats.
We checked out and said goodbye to our lovely hotel before heading out for breakfast.
We found a coffee shop and sat outside, but it was very windy today and I was getting rather cold.
Then the spare hooman decided to go and look inside a church.
Again.
And again…
SHE TOOK AGES.

So Dad and I were left sitting outside in the cold while she went off exploring.
Honestly, I’ve seen enough churches on this trip to last me a lifetime.
Eventually she returned and we wandered around the market.

Now THIS was much more interesting.
The smells were incredible!
There were food stalls everywhere and my nose was working overtime.
Surely, after two weeks of travelling, all this sniffing and being an excellent travel companion deserved a little treat?
Apparently not.
I got nothing.
The market may have been full of delicious smells, but apparently they were for looking at only.

Afterwards we walked along the canals and eventually found a lovely park where I was allowed OFF LEAD.
And readers…
What a way to finish Haarlem!

I played fetch and had the most wonderful time. Then a beautiful black Labrador came over and we had a brilliant chase around together.
The doggos in the Netherlands have honestly been so lovely and sociable.
I’ve made so many friends on this trip.
Eventually the hoomans called me and said it was time to leave Haarlem and head towards the boat home.
And just like that…
Our adventure was coming to an end. π’
The rest of the day was going to be filled with driving, charging stops and eventually the dreaded boat.
And readers, you know how I feel about that boat.
It has the awful pet exercise area.
It makes my fur crawl just thinking about it.
So grosse.
Then there would be lots more driving once we reached England, with the inevitable coffee stops along the way to feed the hoomans’ caffeine addiction.
And finally, the dreaded two-hour boat crossing where the hoomans abandon me.
I STILL don’t understand why I can’t stay with them like I did on all the other boats during this trip.
Why was that allowed in Denmark but not on this one?
It makes absolutely no sense.
But despite the horrible exercise area and the questionable boat rules, I have had the BEST holiday with my hoomans.
I’ve run through forests.
I’ve discovered Hundeskovs.
I’ve chased sticks.
I’ve met loads of lovely doggos.
I’ve paddled in lakes.
I’ve investigated canals.
I’ve been to beaches.
I’ve ridden in a bicycle box.
I’ve been on boats.
I’ve explored castles, churches, cities and parks.
I’ve eaten absolutely no human food whatsoever, despite making my position on this very clear.
I’ve survived vets.
I’ve survived escalators.
I’ve survived being covered in wine.
I’ve survived Dad’s questionable boat-driving abilities.
And I’ve even survived the deranged hotel cat.
So, readers, before I say goodbye, I think it’s only right that I give you my official…

π My Best Moments
The Hundeskovs! π²π
Oh, the Hundeskovs.
Silkeborg was absolutely magnificent. Huge forests, loads of sticks and lovely doggos to play with.
Faaborg had the fantastic lake full of delicious green sludge.
The doggos. πΆ
I’ve met so many lovely dogs throughout this trip. GSPs, Labs, Staffies, fluffy little doggos, enormous dogs and everything in between.
There were so many friendly dogs wanting to play, and I’ve made some excellent new friends.
The beach in the Netherlands. π
Being allowed off lead on the beach at Bloemendaal aan Zee was incredible.
Running through the sand, wrestling with other dogs and charging around like the furry missile I am.
The birds were an added bonus.
Dad disagreed.
The bicycle adventure. π²
At first I thought Dad was going to kill us.
The bike was wobbly, I was in a wooden box and nobody had explained what was happening.
But once we got going, I actually rather enjoyed it.
The wind through my ears, all the smells and the excellent people-watching opportunities made it a pretty fantastic experience.
The freedom.
More than anything, I loved being able to run.
Forests, parks, beaches, fields and lakes.
There was so much space to explore and so many new smells.
That’s what a holiday should be about.
π€ My Worst Moments
The dreaded vets.
Absolutely unnecessary.
I maintain that there was nothing wrong with me and I would have happily signed a waiver confirming this.
The pet exercise area on the boat.
Grosse.
Enough said.
Being abandoned for two hours on the ferry.
Still unacceptable.
I don’t understand why the hoomans can’t just stay with me.
Being denied food.
Breakfasts.
Lunches.
Dinners.
Markets.
Bakeries.
Cafes.
Food trucks.
Restaurants.
So many opportunities.
So few snacks.
Frankly, my hoomans need to do better.
The escalators.
I eventually mastered them, but I maintain they are completely unnecessary.
Why can’t everyone just use stairs like sensible people?
The deranged hotel cat. π
Hiss.
Fangs.
Absolutely terrifying.
No further questions.
β€οΈ And Finally…
I think my favourite thing about this whole trip wasn’t one particular place.
It was being with my hoomans.
We’ve travelled through Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands, stayed in forests, apartments and hotels, travelled on boats, driven hundreds of miles, walked through cities, explored parks, met loads of people and doggos and had one enormous adventure together.
And while there were some questionable decisions β particularly involving vets, boats, escalators and a complete lack of snacks β I wouldn’t have wanted to do it with anyone else.
I’m sad that the adventure is ending.
But readers…
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MY OWN SOFA.
A proper sofa.
My sofa.
No strange hotel rules.
No pokey rooms.
No resident cats.
No boats.
Just me, my bed, my hoomans and plenty of room to stretch out.
Apparently the hoomans have something planned for Christmas, so hopefully there’ll be another Humphrey adventure coming our way.
Until then, thank you for following my travels.
I’ve had the best time.
I’ve been handsome.
I’ve been brave.
I’ve been dramatic.
I’ve been slightly feral.
I’ve been a professional model.
And, most importantly…
I’ve had fun. πΎβ€οΈ
So for now, readers…
It’s bye from me.
Until the next adventure.
